We are pleased to welcome you to the Department of Physics, which aims to provide distinguished education and rigorous scientific research in all branches of theoretical and applied physics. The department focuses on preparing graduates with the scientific knowledge and practical skills necessary to understand physical phenomena and their applications in various industrial, research, and technological fields, while upholding ethical and professional values.
The Department of Physics works to develop students’ analytical and experimental abilities, enabling them to use the latest tools and techniques in scientific research and practical applications. The department also encourages innovation, critical thinking, and active participation in community service and developmental research projects.
We are committed to providing a stimulating educational and research environment that supports continuous learning, preparing our graduates to become leaders and innovators in the field of Physics both locally and regionally.
Description
The Department of Physics at the College of Science was established in the academic year 1993/1994 and has since witnessed significant development, becoming one of the main departments of the college. The department contributes to fulfilling the academic mission that the College of Science aims to achieve.
At its establishment, the department followed an annual academic system, where students graduated after four years, and the first batch graduated in the academic year 1997/1998. In the academic year 2004/2005, the semester system became the standard system adopted by the college.
Vision
Leadership and creativity in physical sciences and community service according to standards of quality and excellence.
Mission
Providing distinguished education in physical sciences and conducting basic and applied research with high standards that meet the needs and requirements of the labor market and community service.
Goals
- Forming a basic base for general physics curricula and preparing a smooth and harmonious study plan.
- Preparing national cadres armed with basic physical knowledge that will contribute to community service in the fields of education, medicine, and
- communications.
- Preparing graduates capable of conducting scientific research and enabling them to contribute to it under the supervision of capable researchers.
- Building and activating partnerships with corresponding programs in other institutions, as the academic degree awarded upon completion of the program is a Bachelor’s degree in Physics.
